Sytner Group dealership, Land Rover Wakefield, has recently partnered with Leeds Wood Recycling CIC to divert waste and save Co2.
In 2021, the dealership rescued 20 cubic yards of wood from the waste stream and saved 13.8 tonnes of Co2.
Leeds Wood Recycling offers an ethical, cost effective and convenient wood collection service, working in a similar way to a skip hire company but offering a sustainable alternative to waste disposal.
It offers a range of services including, waste wood collection services, sales of wood and products, sanding and finishing services and courses and volunteer opportunities.
As a result of the Wakefield dealership using Leeds Wood Recycling services, 16 paid jobs have been created, 30 volunteers have been trained and 4,095 volunteer hours have been put into recycling the wood waste.
Stuart Murray, Site Support Executive at Land Rover Wakefield, said: “Last year I looked into what to do with our waste wood, I’ve tried selling it and giving it away, and spent days breaking it apart to send to land fill, so, last February I found Leeds Wood Recycling who do charity work with it.
“I’m very proud to be a part of a dealership that uses this fantastic service. By using Leeds Wood Recycling CIC we have managed to divert tonnes of wood from landfill and see it have another life thanks to amazing staff and volunteers at the recycling centre.”
