Eleven horsepower and 50 mph, certainly those numbers aren’t all that thrilling until you strap behind the wheel of one of Endurance Karting’s Go-Karts for a 6-hour race in 20-minute stints all for a good cause. Marking the 13th year, the Annual Jacksonville Grand-Prix was on its way Saturday, April 11th benefiting Spina Bifida. The endurance race has been a major focus to help raise funds that directly help the families and children faced with Spina Bifida. All of us at Automotive Addicts and many of our close friends were on hand to support this great event, capturing it in many photos of the dueling Endurance Karts, and most importantly, spending time with the kids directly impacted by the birth defect.

By participating in the event at the 103rd Street Sports Complex (Endurance Karting), those from the community, including many local businesses, former Jaguar Bryan Barker, and many others, help make this an “actively” successful fundraiser through everyone’s team efforts.  The six-hour event was founded by Rick Mansfield and incorporates 15 mandatory pit stops for driver changes and occasional fuel fill-ups. The field was vast – from skilled drivers to novices who were given an equal playing field due to the specified time-stops and weight-advantage balancing for those who were well under the minimum of 200 pounds.

We look forward to this event growing bigger into next year and welcome others to sign up to participate for a good cause. You can show your support now by visiting jaxgrandprix.org.
